Trump in Saudi Arabia at a conference to discuss Arab-American
Direct coverage of the Arab-American Islamic Summit, which took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the participation of President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, US President Donald Trump and 50 delegations from Arab and Islamic countries.
President Abdul-Fattah al-Sisi arrived in Riyadh to participate in the Arab-American Islamic Summit and was received by Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz.
The Saudi monarch King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, stressed that the Arab-American Islamic Summit will have positive prospects for our region and the world, and that this summit will document the alliance against extremism and terrorism.
I would like to thank King Salman for his exceptional words and the wonderful Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting today's summit. I have always heard about the magnificence of your country and the kindness of your citizens, but the words do not do justice to the greatness of this wonderful place and hospitality that you have shown us from the moment we arrived.
You hosted me in the house of King Abdulaziz, the founder of the kingdom, who united your great people. King Abdul Aziz, along with another beloved leader - President Franklin Roosevelt - began the permanent partnership between our two countries. King Salman, your father would be very proud to see that you are continuing his legacy - and as he opened the front page of our partnership, we begin today a new chapter that brings lasting benefits to our citizens.
Let me now express my deep and sincere gratitude to all the distinguished heads of State who made this trip here today. You are very honored by your presence, and I send my warmest greetings from my country to your country. I know that our time together will bring many benefits to your people and my people.
I stand before you and represent the American people, to offer a message of friendship and hope. This is why I choose to be my first foreign visit to the heart of the Islamic world, to the nation that serves the holiest sites in the religion of Islam.
In a speech to the American people, I pledged to strengthen the oldest American friendships and build new partnerships in pursuit of peace. I also promised that we would not seek to impose our way of life on others but would extend our hands in a spirit of cooperation and trust.
Our vision is a vision of peace, security and prosperity in this region and in the world.
Our goal is a coalition of nations that share the goal of eliminating extremism and providing our children with an optimistic future that respects God.
This historic and unprecedented gathering of leaders - unique in the history of nations - is therefore a symbol of the world that reflects our common resolve and mutual respect. For the leaders and citizens of every country gathered here today, I want you to know that the United States is keen to establish closer ties to friendship, security, culture and trade.
This is an exciting time for Americans. In a few months, we have created nearly a million new jobs, added more than $ 3 trillion in new value added, reduced the burden on the US industry, recorded record investments in our military, which will protect the safety of our people and enhance the security of our friends. And our wonderful allies - many of them here today.
